The picture above shows St Mary’s congregation before we moved out of the church building - sadly a number of the folk pictured there have passed away or moved on however,…………..
We are a church in transition, ready to move back into our building after the Building to Serve renovation. Our first service back in St Mary’s will be on the 9th August at 10am - do come and join us as we continue to work out how we can move forward to love and serve our parish.
Good news!!
We are very pleased to announce that the Bishop of Oxford has approved the appointment of Revd Erik Heemskerk as the next Vicar of St Mary’s. (You can see his picture on the who’s who page!!)
Erik (with a ‘k’!) is married to Rosemarie and has a young family. He is currently completing his curacy at Cranleigh in Surrey whilst helping his church to manage a vacancy.
Erik is no stranger to Oxford, having trained at Wycliffe Hall and completing a year’s placement at St James’ church in Cowley. His passions include sharing the good news of Jesus and equipping others to live out their Christian lives in the community. For him this is undergirded by prayer, study and being visible in the community. He said that the profile description of the parish ‘made his heart sing’!
He will begin on the 2nd September and we are looking forward to welcoming him and his family to the parish.
