Building to Serve 2025/6
St Mary’s Church was completed in 1958 following the design of Nugent Cachemaille-Day. In 2025-26 we are realising our vision to renovate and improve the building to prepare the church for the next phase of its life whilst maintaining the iconic 1950’s design. We are excited to see the amazing transformation of St Mary’s when the work is complete.
When our builders, Building Bespoke, were declared bankrupt over the Christmas/ New year we were very grateful to Fennell Construction picking up the role of main contractor and it has been great working with them. The current situation is that we have completed most of the outside work and the kitchen and toilets are being installed and we await the completion of the electrical work, the new doors and lobby, paths, painting and floor restoration..

Building to Serve was budgeted at around £900,000 and following the liquidation of our contractor, Building Bespoke, we were around £80,000 short of the new target! We are thankful for the generous gifts from members and friends of St Mary’s and the very generous grant from the Brookside Trust and so we will hopefully complete the work and move back into church over the summer 2026. We believe all of this is an answer to our prayers and a product of much hard work and so thanks to everyone who has been involved and PRAISE THE LORD for the answers to prayer.
